Learning the Major Arcana
When I was learning the tarot, I found that I needed to create a personal relationship with the cards in order to feel that I truly knew them. Memorizing them through my own mantras became a way I could visualize my own journey through the path. You can use my tarot mantras, or create your own versions to help you feel into the energy of the cards and hear what they are saying to you while doing your own reading.
To use this mantra, take out your cards, order the Major Arcana from 0-21, and read the mantra while you look at the card. Consider the ways the mantra speaks to the imagery while actively trying to memorize the associated mantra. Consider the ways you feel yourself either empowered or challenged by the mantra. Consider how it feels to be both balanced and imbalanced in the energy of the card. Create a story line that associates your own meaning of the mantra to the imagery of the card. I would do this practice 3x before I started any reading for myself, usually once a day until I felt comfortable with every card.
* Bonus practice: If there is a goal or version of self that you would like to step into, bring that into your conscious mind while going through your mantras. Visualize how each card is related to your goal. You may find that you receive illumination on the places you hold limiting beliefs and the places that need more conscious love and attention. It is common to feel challenged and to manifest small tests into your field while going through this process.
